Lux et Umbra offers a carefully chosen and meticulously described selection of very fine and scarce early printed books, dating mostly from 15th to 17th century, which constitute notable landmarks in the history of human thought across a wide range of subjects: from Science to Law and Government, from Theology to the Occult, and from Literature to Travel and early Americana.

We tend to deal in editions of significant rarity; often, the exemplar you see offered on this site is the only one currently on the market.

Usually, we post a short catalogue of 10-15 items on this site at least twice a year. Please note that we are also offering some of our books on eBay.
